In 1932, E. Ward King decided to provide a freight service between the industrial markets of the South and the North. In those days the Mason-Dixon Line divided the North and the South. The slogan "Now joining the North and the South" developed, showing General Grant and Lee shaking hands that would at last pull the two together.
